A Day of Light, Love, Music and Polo
🐎☀️🌊🏖️🎵🎸💃

Summer holds a special place in the hearts of Grateful Dead ‘ohana – gathering en masse at open-air Grateful Dead concerts with warm days and nights fostering boisterous tailgates and tremendous community connection. For 60 years, Hawai‘i Polo Club has served as the ultimate summer destination in the islands thanks to its legendary, oceanfront tailgating, red-hot equestrian action, stunning vistas (ocean and mountain) and come-one-come-all, welcoming spirit. Roots Music Hawaii is thrilled to combine these two summer and community stalwarts for the second, consecutive year for a perfect day in paradise – Sunshine Daydream II.

The day will conclude with The Stephen Inglis Project taking the stage and performing the Grateful Dead’s July 30, 1983 Ventura Country Fairgrounds concert in its entirety on its 40th anniversary – a classic summer setlist brought to life in an idyllic setting.

THE EXPERIENCE

Skydiver enjoys a blissful, sunshine daydream directly above Hawai‘i Polo Club and Mokulē‘ia’s magical coastline.

Whichever way your pleasure tends, Sunshine Daydream has a summer experience tailored to *you.* VIP ticket holders enjoy covered seating and table service (full bar, plus all the day’s food offerings). Tailgaters customize their outings with BYO anything (tents, tables, blankets, food, beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), etc.). And patrons with ‘Overflow’ parking passes get the best of both worlds – BYO blankets, chairs and beverages in Hawai‘i Polo’s makai lawn or BYO blankets and chairs with a full bar and makers market at your fingertips in Hawai‘i Polo’s central courtyard.

Last year’s inaugural Sunshine Daydream at Hawai‘i Polo Club showed us how special it is when Grateful Dead ‘ohana come together in the islands. This past May’s Lucky 7 concert at the Waikīkī Shell elevated things to the heavens, one of the most joyful events we’ve ever been a part of. We can’t wait to build on these foundational stones on July 30th, reveling in the music, culture and spirit of the Grateful Dead in spectacular summer fashion.

At Sunshine Daydream 2022 and Lucky 7 O’ahu 2023, The Stephen Inglis Project ignited a fire on the mountain with an intensity and brilliance rarely seen in the islands. Throngs of Grateful Dead fans overflowing with fiery passion and joy – a sensational vibe, pure connection and elation.

For Sunshine Daydream II, Hawaii guitar great Stephen Inglis has once again assembled a stellar band, ensuring that when The Stephen Inglis Project takes the stage on Sunday, July 30th at Hawai‘i Polo Club, the group will once again transport us to another time and place.

Sunshine Daydream 2023 Band Members:
(all previously performed at either Sunshine Daydream 2022 or Lucky 7 O‘ahu or both)
Stephen Inglis (lead guitar (electric), vocals), Eric Petersen (bass, vocals), Steven Howells (drums), Danny Eisenberg (keyboards), Ginai Hill (vocals, percussion), and Todd Yukumoto (saxophones).

About Stephen Inglis
Stephen Inglis is a world-class guitarist with deep insight into the Dead. When just 22 years old, Inglis served as lead guitarist in “House of Spirits” – a 1990’s band headed up by Bill Kreautzmann (the Dead’s founding and forever drummer). Inglis’ 2018 album, “Cut The Dead Some Slack,” is comprised entirely of songs from the Dead’s cannon, mostly performed in slack key fashion. Dennis McNally, *the* publicist for the Dead from ‘84 thru ‘95, supported the release of Inglis’ stellar album which garnered much attention nationally including frequent praise and spins from David Gans on his iconic radio show, “The Grateful Dead Hour.”
